Internet Marketing,
Twitter
When most people think about marketing on Twitter they think they need to have thousands of followers. The method I talk about here almost completely removes any need for a large base of followers and is really simple to do yourself or even to automate. There’s a few things you need to understand in order to use this method effectively, but after you get the hang of it you’ll understand how powerful it can be.
The first thing you are going to need obviously is a Twitter account. You don’t need your account to have tons of followers but you do need it to look and sound professional. Since you are going to be marketing on Twitter many times the first thing people are going to see representing your business is going to be your Twitter profile, so make sure you’ve got some good information about your business and what you do on it, you can even take it a step further by having a custom Twitter background image created for you.
The next thing you are going to need is a website for your business. Most of you already have have a website for your business but for those of you that don’t I would be more than happy to build you one myself. The reason you want a website is because you want at least some of your Tweets to contain links to a page on your website. The page you are going to be linking to is going to be your landing page.
Your landing page will basically tell people exactly what your business is about what you do maybe even some testimonials from customers. It’s also a good idea to add some statistic tracking such as Google Analytics, that way you can test how effective your online twitter marketing campaigns are.
Once you have all of that setup it’s time to learn about Twitter’s advanced search feature. You are going to be able to find people talking about products or services your business sells and either send them reply tweets or direct messages. You can even use geo targeting so that the people you find tweeting are located in specific areas, how cool is that?
You’re probably starting to understand how you can use this information now, if not I’ll give you some examples.
Let’s say that your business sells tires, from here we brainstorm a little bit and write down what people would be tweeting about that would place them in the market for your businesses products or services. These are just a few that I’ve come up with off the top of my head.
“flat tire”
“new tires”
“old tires”
“worn out tires”
“nail in my tire”
Those are just a few of the things people may be tweeting about that are in need of your products or services. Their tweets aren’t going to look like that though, they are going to look more like this.
“I got a flat tire today, what a bummer”
“There’s a nail in my front left tire!”
“my tires are completely bald”
“I really need new tires”
Those are just some examples of what the users actual tweets are probably going to look like. You can also do some research using Twitters advanced search to be able to find out what they’re tweeting about.
Now by using Twitter’s advanced search you’re able to find people tweeting tweets that make them highly likely to be in the market for your business’s products and services. From there all you have to do is send them a reply tweet or direct message telling them you’ve got what they need.
This sounds like a pretty agonizing process but it’s really not that hard to do after you’ve got the hang of it. Also you can purchase a peace of software that I use myself that completely automates the process, it’s called Tweet Attacks and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to market themselves or their business on Twitter.
